Congrats Professor Savarese!

We at Savarese BJJ Lyndhurst are so proud and excited for our owner and leader, Professor Chris Savarese. He has been helping adults, kids, families and the residents of our town for more than a decade. We are so happy that the Best of Lyndhurst has has recognized him, not only as Martial Arts School of the year for the 6th straight year, but also for their Hall Of Fame! Professor is a very giving and caring man and we couldn’t be more proud to be his students.

Strong showing for Savarese BJJ students at 2019 World BJJ Championship

Strong showing for Savarese BJJ students at 2019 World BJJ Championship

It was a strong showing for Savarese BJJ students at 2019 World BJJ Championship last weekend. Only 3 members of our competition team earned their way to the Worlds this year but we came home with a 6-3 record on the day including a bronze medal. Maria Villa, aka “The Foof”, came away w/ the Bronze medal in the Women’s bluebelt hwt division. Quite an accomplishment for the young star, who made it a goal after losing at this tournament last year. She entered the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach CA with renewed confidence this year and made it to the podium for the first time.

Yadimarco shines

Sean Yadimarco also had a good showing but fell short of his goal of winning his division.

Savarese Jiu-Jitsu student wins bronze at BJJ World Championship! Congrats to “The Foofâ€Â Maria Villa for taking 3rd Place in the Women’s Bluebelt Hwt division at the World BJJ Championship today at the Walter Pyramid at Long Beach University in CA. Words cannot express how happy I am for her right now, it has been an unbelievable year of progress for her starting w her loss there last year. I have always taught that we win or learn, that sometimes we have to lose first before we succeed. When she came home last year, she knew what had to be done, and she made it happen. I am so proud of you Foof! Congrats from everyone (but me the most…lol) Wooooo! 🤟âï¸âï¸âï¸ðŸ¥‡ðŸ†#savaresebjj #lovatobjj #bjj #ibjjfworlds2019 #njbjj #bjjnj #brazilianjiujitsu#jiujitsu #lyndhurstnj #lyndhurstbjj #lyndhurstmartialarts #lyndhurstjiujitsu#bergencountybjj #bergencountyjiujitsu

Savarese BJJ female competitors excel at Big Apple Open

The Savarese BJJ female competitors excel at Big Apple Open, with all 5 competitors making it to the podium. Led by purplebelt Ariana Zeppetelli, competing for the first time since winning 4 matches at the World BJJ Championships in 2017, the women had a very impressive showing.

Results

Zeppetelli took out her opponent, who had won 5 tournaments in a row throughout 2018-2019, in less than 2 minutes w/ a choke. Her younger sister, “Terrorisa” Zeppetelli, also won her division, winning all of her matches in dominant fashion by submission. Maria “Foof” Villa, also won her division winning every match by submission. Congrats to Ivette Ponte and Mariana Vazquez on their great showing as well.

Savarese Jiu-Jitsu takes 2nd Place at Big Apple Open

Savarese Jiu-Jitsu takes 2nd Place at Big Apple Open

What an amazing day for the Savarese Jiu-Jitsu competition team today at the Big Apple Open. We had 23 adult competitors, many competing for the first time, testing themselves and putting it on the line in one of the best and toughest tournaments on the East Coast every year, the Big Apple Open. 21 of the 23 made it to the podium. It was probably the best showing our Academy has ever had as a team. So proud of all of you who put it on the line, faced your fears and tested themselves in a tough tourn in this day in age where so many only do in house tournaments. I am always proud of everyone who isn’t afraid to fail, it’s how we grow. I am pretty sure we placed 2nd or 3rd in the team standings, just waiting for results to be posted.
