Savarese Jiu-Jitsu adds 2 new blackbelts

Savarese Jiu-Jitsu adds 2 new blackbelts! What an amazing night at Savarese Jiu-Jitsu. We added 2 new blackbelts to our team in Danny Rinaldi and Maria Lleonart. Both are so deserving in so many ways and I am honored to be connected to each for life. Maria becomes the first female blackbelt at Savarese BJJ. She is one of the first women doing BJJ in the US, the first I ever saw submitting men, a woman who submitted cancer and she gave one of the most amazing blackbelt speeches I have ever heard. We also leveled up Danny’s brother Gerry Rinaldi to 2nd degree blackbelt, a rank wayy overdue. The Rinaldi’s are 2 of the best grapplers in the world but their attitudes and humility make them special beyond their skills. A great thank you to all who shared this night with us, it was a night that I don’t think any member of our team will forget. Congrats as well to the rest who leveled up tonight.

Amazing turnaround for Savarese BJJ student

Amazing turnaround for Savarese BJJ student

Amazing turnaround for Savarese BJJ student! Congrats to Ariel Morel on winning his division at the Fuji BJJ Tournament today! Great day at the Fuji tournament for the Savarese BJJ competition team but i wanted to post about this guy first. Guys like him make all the bad days of owning a school or teaching BJJ worth it. Since this guy joined my academy , he has dropped over 80lbs and has gotten much healthier. 2 months ago, he decided to compete for the first time. It wasn’t his day. But in the “win or learn†mentality of Jiu-Jitsu, he learned. Well he just back in the horse today and won 2 matches, both by submission, to win his division at the Fuji tournament today. https://www.fujibjj.com/Home/Index The smile in this first pic makes me so happy and Ariel, I am sooo incredibly proud of you Jiu-Jitsu changes lives every day. 🤙ðŸ»Â #Savaresebjj #lyndhurst #bergencountybjj #lyndhurstjiujutsu #jiujitsulifestyle

Savarese BJJ wins Fuji Team Title

Savarese BJJ wins Fuji Team Title

Savarese BJJ wins Fuji Team Title! Congrats to everyone on the Savarese BJJ competition team who tested themselves today. It was a mix of some of our best, some who haven’t competed in a very long time, and some testing themselves in their first tournament. We finished 2nd in the team standings but 1st Place in the Adult standings (we had no kids competing today) and I am proud of all of you not because of your great showing but more because you stepped up, faced a fear and weren’t afraid to fail like so many are. First I want to shout out our purplebelt standout Sean Yadimarco, who took 1st place in the Blackbelt division. (Props to the black belts for letting him in so he could test himself, much appreciated), winning his first match 9-0 and his 2nd by submission. Also props to Ariel Morel, who continues his journey to better health but winning his first BJJ tourn ever! Since this guy joined my academy , he has dropped over 80lbs and has gotten much healthier. 2 months ago, he decided to compete for the first time. It wasn’t his day. But in the “win or learn†mentality of Jiu-Jitsu, he learned. Well he just back in the horse today and won 2 matches, both by submission, to win his title at the Fuji tournament today. https://www.fujibjj.com/ So proud of you! Then the amazing Ivette Ponte, who took 1st place in her division, continuing to be better in every aspect of life and BJJ. She is a 100% completely different person than the person who walked in 3 years ago. Sooo proud of you. Maverick Garcia, who has a unbelievable tournament!

This is what Jiu-Jitsu is about!

This is what Jiu-Jitsu is about! This is how Jiu-Jitsu changes lives, this is what Jiu-Jitsu is about: self improvement, being better than you were yesterday. Yesterday, i got to witness my student Ariel take a new step in his journey, face a fear and grow. He has lost over 80 lbs since he started, is healthier, stronger mentally and physically, and is getting better every month with his skills. While he lost his matches, he won because he grew. And when I told him that, I think he understood which is more growth. Not gonna lie, i have been a little fried w BJJ lately but I went yesterday because I wanted to see him grow and am so glad I did. Thank you Ariel for inspiring ME. You made my day, I was smiling all day because of you! Oss.

Savarese Jiu-Jitsu teen wins double Gold

Savarese Jiu-Jitsu teen wins double Gold

Savarese Jiu-Jitsu teen wins double Gold! Tommy Picurro is one of the youngest members of the Savarese BJJ Competition Team. The 17 year old had a great day at the NAGA (http://nagafighter.com ) tournament this weekend. Piccuro won his gi division, submitting all his opponents in his path. He followed up his tremendous day by entering the no-gi division. He went on to submit all his opponents in that division as well. If Picurro continues this torrid pace, he will be another in the long line of elite Savarese BJJ young competitors. As a result, he will be sponsored for future tournaments. In conclusion, look for Picurro at the upcoming Grappling Industries tournament in December.
