Rafael Lovato Jr wins 4 Gold medals at Curitiba BJJ Open
Rafael Lovato Jr wins 4 Gold medals at Curitiba BJJ Open! Congrats to my good friend Professor Rafael Lovato Jr for winning Double Gold in the Gi AND No-Gi Division at the Cubita Open in Brazil this weekend. It was Rafael 1st tournament since major surgery and he fought 9 times and won by submission 9 times! Congrats Raf!! After making an incredible recovery from surgery, Lovato was hungry to step back into action. After a couple of potential events fell through, he found himself looking at the IBJJF calendar looking for something to compete at. When he saw the Curitiba Open and the amount of Black Belts competing there in Gi & No-Gi divisions, his decision was made to return to the motherland of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. After two days of matches, Lovato was the Gi & No-Gi Black Belt Weight and Absolute Champion, earning 4 Gold medals with 9 submissions in 9 matches! He showcased his forward pressure game with a lot of variety in his attacks and never even had a point scored against him!
