Lyndhurst Jiu-Jitsu Kids team dominates tournament
What an awesome day yesterday at the NJBJJF for our competition team. We went in with our largest team to date, 35 kids, teens and adults challenging themselves. I was beaming with pride on the way home and smiling at how far many have come in such a short time and am excited at the prospect of how good many of you can be if you don’t quit. First, steal a phrase from my 1st BJJ instructor Dave Adiv, our kids fought like LIONS! Coach Sean Bermudez has done an amazing job w/ them and they are so lucky to have a coach like him who cares and is invested in them on and off the mat. They were amazing! Every kid won a medal! We finished 2nd place in the Team standings

The teens were absolutely incredible! Leo Alves, Myko Perevicious and Sean Yadimarco all won gi and no-gi. I bumped up Leo and Myko to fight in the bluebelt class and both won GOLD, Leo winning in the final in 24 seconds by triangle. Sean is scary good for his age as well. Arianny Zeppetelli was awesome as well, finishing 2nd and was inches away from winning her division as well. Isabel Doran stepped up and competed in her 1st tournament despite only training for a short time and finished 2nd in her division as well.
The adults were awesome as well Marco Ramirez, Robbie Alvarez and Nick Mullaney all taking 1st place, Caitlin McManus , Brian O’Connor, and Babatunde Ojo, Corey Peirone, Dan Czarnecki taking 2nd in their 1st tournament. Pete O’Connor and Byron Kelly took 3rd. Congrats to Andrew Kuntz, Elihud Santiago, Nick Tandrick and Marzio Alcala, all who fought really well but came up short this time. Also big congrats to Sean Bermudez who stepped up to compete in his 1st tournament as a blackbelt being a blackbelt for only 1 month and fought well before losing to Romulo Caju Azevedo by baseball bat choke.
