You are never too old to try Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

You are never too old to try Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)! One of my biggest pet peeves is when I talk to friends of mine over 40 who tell me “I’d love to try BJJ or Martial Arts but I’m too old.†Drives me crazy. As General George S. Patton once said “A lot of people die at 40, but they are not buried until 30 years later.†Don’t be one of those people!! YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU SET YOUR MIND TO DO!!! I then tell them the story of Ed O’Neill of Married w/ Children and Modern Family fame, and his journey through BJJ. He started when he was 45 yrs old and earned a blackbelt 16 yrs later at 61 from one of the toughest instructors to earn a blackbelt from, Rorian Gracie, the man who brought BJJ to the USA. Here is a funny story from Ed about his journey. Here is the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSSt5OQ4zHc  There are so many reasons to start BJJ but one I can tell you right away is I have never seen a BJJ practitioner who has reached the rank of purplebelt not have their lives affected directly by training BJJ. I have even seen former students who quit at purplebelt (why anyone does this is beyond me) posting on Facebook using some of the lesson they learned in BJJ promoting or working in their businesses. Focus on the Self Defense side of  BJJ if you are limited by injuries. You are not just training your body but your mind as well. BJJ is a lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle that will give you life skills, promote better health and fitness and weight loss. At our Academy, Savarese BJJ in Lyndhurst NJ, we put you through a 16 week course of just teaching you the basics of BJJ in a small class setting so it is like having your own personal trainer for BJJ. If you are interested in trying  BJJ, call us at 201 933-5134 for a free one on one trial w an instructor. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain!!
