Lyndhurst Jiu-Jitsu Team has amazing day at NJBJJF

The Savarese Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) Academy Competition team, a Lyndhurst Jiu-Jitsu team, had an amazing day at the New jersey Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (NJBJJF) tournament yesterday. The team comprised of 26 adults, teens and kids traveled down to the South Jersey tournament and every single one of them won a medal in their division. The showing was not only the best the Savarese team ever had, it was the best showing in the tournament’s history. That has never happened before in the history of the tournament with a team of over 10 competitors. Professor Savarese, the Academy’s owner and head instructor, is very well respected in the BJJ community. A good competitor himself in his younger years, he says he gets more out of helping others reach their goals. He stated on Facebook “Today was one of the most awesome days I have had as a BJJ instructor. Congrats to the Savarese BJJ Competition team! We brought a team of 26 kids/teens/adults to the NJBJJF tournament and every single student on our team won a medal!!! I couldn’t have dreamed we would do that well. I am so super proud of my team and a big thank you to the instructors who help, the teammates who come down to support their teammates and all the parents who support us as well. We are family! Love you all!! So proud of everyone!” He only stated “This has been a huge year for our Academy. We are breaking ground on a new 5000 sq ft facility to open early next year. Our enrollment has tripled this year. Our competition team, despite less than 10% of our school focusing on competition is doing phenomenal! I am so excited for the Academy’s future.

One of which was an combined weight and skill division. And Little Mike Hernandez earning a silver medal in his first Yellow belt division. They did great both on and off the mats. About Savarese BJJ

The main goal at Savarese Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy is to boost the self-esteem of our students. Every day in the United States, over 100,000 kids miss school due some form of bullying. Many believe that fear of bullying may be the leading cause of low self-confidence in children. Worse, statistics suggest that less than 20% of kids actually report acts of bullying.  At Savarese BJJ, we focus on the physical, emotional and mental well-being of our students. We call themâ€Life Skills.†We provide our young students with the most powerful defensive skills so they will be ready to stand up against bullies. In addition, we assist our students with the development of characteristics and skills they will need in order to live a happy and balanced life.  Our students develop confidence, discipline, courage, responsibility, and leadership among other important values. We promote non-violent resolutions to conflict. For many children learning to respect authority can be a difficult lesson to learn. Respecting authority is quite important in the teaching of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. We aim to develop life-improvement skills as well as building the child’s character in a positive way. Our belief is uncoachable kids become unemployable adults. We teach these skills in the most fun atmosphere possible.

NY Giants Eli Manning uses Jiu Jitsu techniques

NY Giants Eli Manning uses Jiu Jitsu techniques

Eli

NY Giants Eli Manning uses Jiu Jitsu techniques  Once the 2010 season was complete, both Sullivan and Manning sat down to discuss goals for the upcoming season. The three main goals decided upon were ‘leadership, decision-making, and accuracy’. I wonder where he came up with these goals?
Improved decision-making. That was one of those goals to come from last January’s meeting, all of which are written at the three points of a triangle used by the Gracie family, the famed Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu clan admired by Sullivan, a former Army Ranger, Jiu-Jitsu blue belt and mixed-martial-arts fanatic.
Sullivan took the basics of the Gracie Family triangle and applied them on the grid-iron, proving that many lessons in jiu jitsu are not just sport specific, they’re life tools.

About Brazilian Jiu Jitsu:

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a devastating fighting and grappling art developed by the Gracie Family of Brazil. While it contains many stand-up throws, takedowns and self-defense techniques that can finish a fight, it is most famous for its extremely effective ground fighting techniques. This Martial Art was developed to allow the smaller person to defeat the larger person through the application of leverage and submission holds such as joint locks and chokes. Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is a versatile Martial Art. Its varied applications include a realistic self-defense system, a complete sport, a proven fighting style and a fun and healthy recreational activity. Because its versatility, it is quickly becoming one of the most popular Martial Arts in the world today.

Wise words from Master Rickson Gracie

Wise words from Master Rickson Gracie

“Where there’s discomfort, there’s fear, In these very tough positions, you’re in a little piece of hell. And through this daily suffering, you learn to survive in these situations. You have to find comfort in the uncomfortable situations. You have to be able to live your worst nightmare. Jiu-Jitsu puts you completely in the moment where you must have complete focus on finding a solution to the problem. This trains the mind to build that focus, to increase your awareness, your capacity to solve problems. Sometimes, you don’t have to win. You cannot win. But that has nothing to do with losing.â€Â – Master Rickson Gracie
